BEHIND THE SCENES: PROCESS PHOTOGRAPHY

To bridge Lionel's scene at the ball game to the parking lot at the hospital, after getting called back to his day job, we had to get a few driving shots to connect the sequence editorially.

We had two options: Process Phototgraphy or the "Poorman's Process". Most Indies go for the less expensive Poorman's Process but Assistant Director Paul Adkins came up with a creative solution that we implemented. Paul led the Downtown Process Photography Unit using his equipment to tow the picture vehicle using bumper tow bars to keep the car at road level and used a portable generator in the bed of a pickup truck that we used as the photography platform to shoot Actor Satiago Craig behind the wheel driving through Downtown Tucson.

Assistant Director Justin Mashouf would film from inside the car from the front passenger seat and from the pickup truck bed with Producer Gabriele Andres relaying directions over radio calls hidden inside the picture vehicle. Below are some photos of that night.

To light Actor Santiago Craig, we rigged a common work light onto the dash of the automobile and covered it in an 80 blue gel.
