BEHIND THE SCENES: MILLER'S SURPLUS

This was an easy night of filming at Miller's Surplus on 6th street, just south of 6th Avenue, after hours. You might think that having an entire crew of just myself and my Producer Gabriele Andres would mean we were severely under staffed but it was an unusually simple and quiet filming night that still produced great results. I think filming in that quiet space gave the Actors

We just had Santiago Craig (playing Lionel) and Tom Rogers (playing Ray) on set for these scenes and we used the Chinese lantern and an SXT silk over two gelled Home Depot work lights.

Miller's Surplus is also one of our principal sponsors, providing us with material support in addition to this great filming location. Their generosity and help has been amazing in the making of this motion picture - everything from Lionel's outfit to the Russians all came from Miller's Surplus so if you're thinking about getting a pair of military ACU pants just like Lionel's for yourself, this is the place to go. We were lucky enough to be allowed to film Ray's "downtown war room" segments there after hours to keep the scope of this film breathtaking. The place is huge! They have enough inventory to outfit a small army including all the latest Molle tactical gear.

Miller's General Manager, George Landa was there this evening, rehearsing with his band LOS NAWDY DAWGS for a gig they've booked at one of the big casinos. If we're lucky, we'll also get the opportunity to have one of their songs in our movie.

Everyone who has ever been to Miller's Surplus instantly recognizes the amazing selection of military surplus goods they're famous for, even in the dark.
They don't call Miller's Surplus "the world's greatest store" for nothing. What better place could Ray's character have chosen to survive the end of the world?
