The
first day of auditions were held at ARTFARE THE MUSE
at 55 N. 6th Avenue where Gabriele Andres once again
planned and executed another exceptional film event as the Casting
Director for THE LAST MAN. The Casting Call was an enjoyable
and well coordinated event that held to a full schedule. Tucson
Talent once again proved that some of the best independent Talent
in the country can be found in the Tucson Film and Theater community.

From 9AM to 7PM, A.I.A. Productions was
privileged to audition 35 Tucson actors and actresses who handled
their cold readings with creativity, enthusiasm and a remarkable
level of talent. We wish to express our gratitude to the many
performing artists who participated in our Casting Call by coming
in on their July 4th weekend. |

Collins, Executive Director of ARTFARE THE MUSE scheduled
our use of Tucson's premiere downtown Arts facility for our
audition event. A.I.A. Productions is now working on a new
joint venture with ARTFARE THE MUSE and OLD PUEBLO
THEATRICAL SOLUTIONS to create Tucson's first indie production
center for filmmakers, offering professional lighting services,
a pre-lit green screen stage, local music and audio production,
stunt and talent brokering services to help centralize everything
Tucson has to offer local and out of state movie productions.

Casting Officer Ben Manker-Seale
provided setup and support for the Casting Call at ARTFARE
THE MUSE, arriving early to help make this event a success
before the first actor or actress walked into our field office.
He supported the operations of Ms. Radei and Ms. Parisi throughout
the day behind the scenes. Mr.
Manker-Seale attends the University of Arizona, studying Japanese

Soloist
Jim Duffy entertained our appointed actors and actresses
as well as the A.I.A. Staff this Sunday with the sounds of
his exotic Electric Sitar that fuses transcendent melodies
with cutting edge electric guitar technology.
If
you think you've heard it all when it comes to electrified
string instruments, come down to ARTFARE THE MUSE and
get hip to the 21st century.

James
Arnett, Director of Mary Shelley's
THE LAST MAN project sat in on the Casting Call and was
impressed by the variety of Talent available in Tucson, saying
that the way the cold read was set up really made a huge difference
for the Talent to show their skills that cold readings typically
don't accomplish. The sides were designed to give Talent the
flexibility and immediacy to interpret the material in a meaningful
and personal way to give everyone the opportunity to let their
creativity come shining through.

James
Arnett who set up several casting calls in Los Angeles and Gabriele
Andres who set up several casting calls in Tucson combined their
experience to design an effective method for conducting a fast-paced
yet unrushed audition that combined the expedience of a cold
read with the in-depth consideration of a formal audition.
This
was accomplished by creating sides designed to bring out a wide
range of performance skills within a single page with a high
concept scene that anyone could project themself into without
the need to memorize any lines verbatim.
Using
these means, we discovered some wonderful Talent who would have
been prematurely "gonged" on a typical cold read - just by keeping
the scene short and offering two or more read-throughs.

The capable and intuitive Alison Radei
brought her own polished brand of skills to her Casting Officer
role that helped make the experience for Talent comfortable
and timely with the highest degree of professionalism that clearly
conveyed our commitment to treating auditioning Talent with
the respect and appreciation they deserve. Ms. Radei is also
a very charismatic actress with presence. Ms. Radei is currently
training for the field of professional makeup and hair at Arizona's
School of Artistic Beauty.

the identical position and responsibilities of Casting Officer,
the talented and perceptive Rebecca Parisi took personal
care of each actor and actress who came into the audition,
helping to make their experience an enjoyable and comfortable
one from the moment Talent stepped in until the moment they
stepped out. Ms. Parisi is also a very versatile and polished
actress who recently returned from Los Angeles with new first-hand
insights on how to reduce pre-audition anxiety that helped
a lot to the keep the experience of the appointed Talent a
positive one.
