The
preceding
illustration
is
an
example
of
stop-motion
animation.
Generally,
stop
motion
animation
is
confined
to
three
dimensional
objects,
but
is
also
used
in
paper
cut-out
animation.
Usually,
if
a
sequence
is
one-of-a-kind,
in
that
the
movements
are
not
registered
to
any
fixed
reference
point,
or
can't
be
duplicated
exactly
-
it's
stop
motion.
Computer
motion
controlled
photography
is
also
stop-motion
but
the
sequence
can
be
exactly
repeated
any
number
of
times
to
layer
passes
for
adding
lighting
and
other
special
effects.
