Cut
the
section
of
negative
containing
the
frames
specified
in
your
EDL
using
the
hot
splicer's
guillotine
razor
to
achieve
perfectly
square
cut
edges.
Do
not
cut
exactly
at
the
first
frame,
leave
room
to
scrape
and
make
a
hot
splice.
Cut
at
least
one
frame
before
and
one
frame
after
the
first
and
last
frame
of
the
length
of
your
film
clip.
For
example,
suppose
I
needed
frames
1001
through
1024,
the
piece
of
cut
negative
should
include
frames
1000
through
1025.
Surgically
remove
the
sequences
from
your
negative
(with
one
frame
extra
at
each
end
as
a
"relief"
for
cutting,
scraping
and
cementing),
label
each
shot
appropriately
(i.e.,
shot
23A
-
1001
to
1024).
You
have
to
cut,
label
and
hang
all
of
your
negative.
So
plug
in
your
hot
splicer,
get
the
negative
cement
out
and
start
building
your
A
and
B
roll
negative.
